5.18 MRC Weekly Schedule + One Year of The Mondays Effect
So much has happened this year, and I have so much gratitude!
One Year of The Mondays Effect
It is officially the one-year anniversary of The Mondays Effect.
One full year of waking up every Monday morning, making a coffee, opening my laptop, and writing to you without fail.
What started as a little place to share my thoughts, event updates, and run club reflections has become something so much bigger than I expected. We’ve built this corner of the internet full of people who show up every week to read, engage, reflect, and grow alongside me.
So first, thank you.
I’m writing this from Tofino right now, sitting at my friend Matt’s place — someone I met through running — watching the sun come up. My legs are exhausted from running. My cheeks are sore from laughing. I’m here with two girlfriends, Rosa & Larissa both of whom I met through Mondays, after coming out to run the Yeehaw Half by Natural Freedom, which is arguably my favourite race.
The race is organized by Dom, who is one of those effortlessly cool girls who just gets it. She has this way of bringing people together, slowing everyone down, and creating experiences that make you feel more connected to yourself, to nature, and to the people around you.
Sitting here this morning, I just feel so much gratitude. For this life. For the people I’ve met. For the friendships I’ve made. For the way Mondays has changed not only my life, but the lives of so many people around me.
It’s one of those moments where I’m thinking, how did I get here?
How did I end up in Tofino, at a friend’s house, with girls I met through run club, after running a race organized by another girl who is building something so beautiful in her own corner of the world?
And then I remember: it comes back to all of it. All the things I write about here every week.
Be the friend you’re looking for. Support your friends’ businesses, dreams, races, events, ideas, and big scary goals. Invite people to do things with you. Ask someone to grab an ice cream after run club. Text the person you’ve been meaning to make plans with. Book the trip. Say yes to the thing that scares you a little.
Be brave enough to go first.
Because when I really look at my life right now, so much of what I’m grateful for came from doing exactly that. From choosing connection even when it felt awkward, uncomfortable, or vulnerable.
And that is the whole heart of Mondays.
This newsletter has been one of my favourite ways to process that in real time. For the past year, I’ve written about friendship, fear, confidence, leadership, loneliness, community, dating, running, business, grief, growth, bravery, burnout, joy, and the sometimes messy process of becoming the person you’re trying to be.
And you have met me there every Monday.
You’ve replied to these emails. You’ve told me something resonated. You’ve sent them to friends. You’ve brought them up at run club. You’ve made me feel like these words are really landing somewhere.
So today, one year in, I just want to say thank you again for being here. Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. Thank you for showing up for Mondays, for this community, and for yourselves.
If you’re new here, I hope this newsletter reminds you that you’re allowed to build the life you’re craving.
And if you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for growing with me!
Anyway, I’m going to make Rosa and Larissa a coffee, watch the rest of this Tofino sunrise, and today we’re renting beach bikes which is going to be hilarious — follow along on my stories HERE!
My legs may be totally cooked, but my heart is very, very full.
Coming Up With Mondays
We have a VERY exciting event coming up.
A few of you have been asking, and we’re listening. We’re hosting a men’s-only event led by Sandon called:
Mondays Boys’ Club: The Debrief
This isn’t locker room talk. It’s one night for men who are ready to go a little deeper — to get honest about what’s driving them, connect with others who are showing up the same way, and leave with something they can actually use.
A walk. A conversation. A room full of men doing the work.
Hosted by Sandon — certified therapist, ultra runner, father, and Mondays leader.
Tuesday, May 26
7:30 PM at Container Brewing
Tickets and information HERE!
Space is intentionally very limited.
